Spandau pilgrimage
The Emmaus Walk, or pilgrimage to Emmaus, is a Christian tradition. In commemoration of the disciples' journey to Emmaus, with whom Jesus Christ joins them unrecognized (Luke 24:13-32), the pilgrims set out on Easter Monday.
Superintendent Florian Kunz is reviving this tradition. Feel free to join in, walk the entire route, or stop by one of the stations along the way.
- Station: Cross and Sorrow Stones: 9 a.m. at the Christmas Church, Haselhorster Damm 54-58, 13599 Berlin
- Station: Bread and Wine (Grapes): 10 a.m. at the Trinity Church, An der Mäckeritzbrücke 4, 13629 Berlin
- Station: Emmaus is Everywhere: Easter Monday service at 11 a.m. at the St. Christopher's Church, Schuckertdamm 338, 13629 Berlin
The Spandau Pilgrimage Route connects all 24 Protestant and two Catholic churches in Spandau. The route is 75 kilometers long and divided into three circular routes – City, Country, and River. There is also a cycling route and a tried-and-tested family pilgrimage route. Several sections are barrier-free.
The pilgrim guide, specially created for the Spandau Pilgrimage Route, contains precise directions, information about churches, suggestions for devotions, songs, and practical tips. All participating churches have stamp safes for pilgrim stamps. Each pilgrim can stamp their own pilgrim's passport. Those who collect at least three stamps will receive a pilgrim certificate at the church district office or at the closing celebration of the pilgrimage year.
