Literature LIVE at the Delphi Filmpalast

Open, emotional and moving: Boris Becker talks about his time in prison and how he saved himself from falling into ruin.

Wimbledon winner at 17, six-time Grand Slam tournament winner, world number one: Boris Becker achieved almost everything in his tennis career.

But in April 2022, he fell into the abyss: he was sentenced to 30 months in prison on charges of bankruptcy offences. Beyond fame and fortune, Becker had to find his way in a completely new world as prisoner A2923EV.

In his book Inside. Winning, losing, starting over, he describes his life behind bars – from the brutal reality of two of England's toughest prisons to new friendships and unexpected lessons in resilience that brightened his life. His book is more than a survival story: it is the moving story of a comprehensive turning point. Becker candidly recounts the decisions that led him to prison; he reflects on his mistakes and the price of fame. And he describes how, through new relationships, hard-learned survival techniques and the philosophy of Stoicism, he begins to rebuild his life and reputation.
