Bielfeldt's Encounters: Rainer Bielfeldt Meets Bettina Meske

For his event series *Bielfeldt’s Encounters*, he has set himself the goal of getting to know the personalities he admires more closely, both personally and artistically. The series features a colorful mix of making music together and for one another, performing duets, daring to try the untried, and giving familiar pieces a fresh new twist—and, of course, talking, laughing, creating, and inspiring.

In this episode, Rainer devotes himself heart and soul to the singer, actress, and songwriter Bettina Meske.

“Bettina and I met in 2000 during a songwriting project. I had composed a Berlin hit, and several colleagues—independently of one another—recommended the same singer to me: Bettina Meske. So we arranged to meet for our first rehearsal at my home.

What began that day was far more than a musical collaboration. I met a woman whose warmth, humor, and personality captivated me from the very first moment. And I discovered an artist who embodies a song so deeply and fills it with such soul and character that you feel it was written just for her. After just a few bars, I knew: This is exactly how this song had to sound.

That first encounter has blossomed into a friendship that’s now lasted more than 25 years. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Bettina perform in a wide variety of musical theater roles on stage. And I admire her not least for the passion, courage, and impressive drive with which she also writes, produces, and releases her own songs. She’s a true self-made artist who forges her own unique path.

I’m really looking forward to spending an entire evening making music, sharing stories, and reminiscing with our audience alongside this wonderful colleague and dear friend—and I’m sure we’ll be creating new memories along the way.”
