In ‘Pi mal Daumen’, Alina Bronsky tells the story of a friendship between two very different people: a 53-year-old grandmother in a leopard print and a 16-year-old maths overachiever.

Moni and Oscar meet for the first time in a lecture: he is highly gifted, has an aristocratic title and has never travelled on the underground. She has three grandchildren, several part-time jobs and loves brightly coloured lipstick. Moni is determined to secretly fulfil her dream of studying maths.
