The biographically influenced production with chamber orchestra and choir brings the life and work of the important composer to the stage. The portrait of the artist shows Bach as a person who pursued his life's dream with consistency and passion from childhood onwards.

The emotional production with eleven actors in 138 roles opens up a multifaceted, historical panorama and immerses us in a world with living conditions that are difficult to imagine today. The 13-piece chamber orchestra not only performs 35 of Bach's works, but is also included in the stage action.

Short version and long version: Both play versions tell of Bach's childhood and youth, of the 19-year-old's employment as organist in Arnstadt, his marriage to Maria Barbara and his conflicts with the absolutist power structures in Weimar and Köthen. Musically, Bach's secular works are in the foreground.

In the long version, the ecclesiastical works, the art of the fugue and Bach's work as the Thomaskantor also come into focus.
