Jazz of the 1940s – Castle courtyard concert
Alec Wilder (1907-1980) was an American composer who, in addition to his classical works, stands out above all for his jazz-oriented arrangements, in which he liked to use woodwind instruments and the harp.
In this court concert, the Alec Wilder Octet plays Alec Wilder's legendary but still unknown octets, bearing inspirational titles such as "The Neurotic Goldfish" or "The Amourous Poltergeist".
The music can best be described as jazz chamber music: the jazz of the 30s and 40s in a very unusual instrumentation with flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, double bass, drums and harpsichord.
A discovery, not only for jazz fans!
An event organized by the Music School City West in cooperation with Drußenstadt and the SPSG.
