
German painting and graphic art from Lochner and Witz to Schongauer
The 15th century was an era of significant upheavals and innovations. In the German-speaking world, painters and graphic artists were influenced by the Italian Renaissance and the Dutch Ars Nova. At the same time, they developed printmaking (and book printing) into one of the most important art forms of the period.
