The Berlin improvisational theater troupe samt & sonders (formerly frei.wild Berlin) is celebrating its 20th anniversary on stage—and invites you to a special show on August 30 at the ufaFabrik’s covered summer stage. The ensemble has been performing there regularly for 15 years—a double anniversary that will be celebrated in style.

Eight ensemble members have been performing together on stage for two decades and have made a name for themselves with their enthusiasm, creativity, and artistic quality. Numerous awards in improvisational theater, as well as performances throughout Germany, Europe, and beyond, attest to their experience and passion for the art of the moment.
For the ensemble, improvisation is not just an artistic practice, but also an attitude: “For us, improv means taking risks, dealing constructively with mistakes, being open and flexible, and truly being in the moment,” says the ensemble. “These principles have guided us for 20 years—on stage and beyond.” In addition to their public shows, samt & sonders is also active in business theater, training sessions, workshops, and educational projects.
The ensemble’s history reflects this evolution: Founded as the improv theater frei.wild, the group has been performing since 2022 under the name “samt & sonders” as an innovation theater—with an expanded artistic approach and new formats.
The anniversary show on August 30 promises a unique evening: improvised scenes, songs, and stories emerge live in the moment—inspired by the audience’s ideas and the special atmosphere of a late summer evening.
Exactly what will happen remains to be seen—the only certainty is that it will be surprising, diverse, and full of energy.
An evening that balances reflection with a fresh start—marked by lightness, depth, and the special magic of the moment. And all in celebration of 20 years of improvisational theater. Here’s to the next 20!
