Forever 18
As one of the oldest clubs in the city, Renate looks back with pride and inspiration on 18 years full of beautiful moments and parties. Renate's story begins like so many others: in 2007, a group of creative minds discovered a dilapidated old building in the former eastern part of the city. True to the spirit of the post-reunification era, storage rooms, shelters and workshops were quickly converted into the first floors, while apartments and common rooms were created at the same time.
The transitions between art performances, parties, backstage and after-hours in the original living room were fluid, and this closeness shaped the familiar and creative character that still defines Renate today, almost 18 years later.
‘Renate asks Berlin not to worry about the future, but simply to enjoy the time together. When Renate ends in 2025, they will be proud of what we have created and want to celebrate it together with old and new friends.’
