10 years of ‘The best poetry slam in the world’

Six poetry slam masters, a mariachi band, rapper Prinz Pi and a floating stage. These are the curious ingredients of the anniversary of Berlin's biggest poetry slam show.


The poetry slam masters will meet at the charming Strandbad Wendenschloss for a showdown on the water. Because there can only be one. Who will win the final duel? Who will win the golden swan?

In recent years, poetry slam has evolved from a hyped subculture to a pop culture movement – accessible, political, humorous and relevant. The anniversary evening celebrates not only ten years of stage shows, but also an art form that today produces best-selling authors, TV personalities and the young voices of our time.

For over 10 years, the event with the immodest title was the largest poetry slam event in Berlin, and in 2018 it was even the largest poetry slam event in the world that year.


But what is the current status of poetry slam? Has the former hype become established in mainstream society? Who has the last word? All this will be clarified on 18 July on the beach.
Moderated by Julian Heun, the event offers a cultural highlight of a special kind – between the beach, sunset and linguistic art.
