Close-to-water tour

Where Participation Makes Waves

With the ‘Close-to-water’ tour, BSR and visitBerlin invite you to join the conversation: about life in Berlin’s waterfront areas, about community life in the city, and ideas for the future. Every opinion counts – because every perspective helps us to shape Berlin’s future together.

The BerlinPay offer

Water for All – Who Decides?
5 June 2026 from 3 till 7 pm | Plötzensee Lido

Who owns the city’s water – and how can recreation, nature conservation, leisure, tourism and public access be reconciled? In this interactive, hands-on format, visitors playfully develop their own ideas for an ideal waterside location and engage in conversation with one another. An open format for contributing ideas, having a say and discovering – free of charge and accessible at any time during the event period.

Silent Disco Clean Up
6 June 2026 from 2 till 6 pm | Zenner Beer Garden, Treptower Park

Music in your ears, litter pickers in your hands and experiencing Berlin from a new perspective: the Silent Disco Clean Up combines exercise, a great atmosphere and a commitment to clean waterfronts. Together with partners, we’ll walk along the waterfront in Treptower Park – with inspiring insights into sustainability, urban nature and water protection. Materials will be provided on site, and little surprises are included.

Close to the water: get involved, have your say, help shape the future
10 June 2026 from 4 till 8 pm | Van Loon, waterside terrace

Berlin’s waterways are a place of recreation, a habitat and a meeting place all at once. On the terrace of the Van Loon, the ‘Close to the Water Tour’ invites you to explore this diversity in a playful way. Visitors can contribute their own perspectives through the “Water for All” participatory format, strike up conversations with others and discover interesting facts about sustainability on the BSR wheel of fortune. Just drop by and join in.
