In 2027, the Chamäleon will present a moving new production by one of the world’s leading circus companies, the ‘rock stars of the circus’, Circa.

‘In the rivers north of the future, I cast out my net,’ wrote the poet Paul Celan, describing a space that lies beyond time, yet not beyond hope.

This is the space in which Circa’s acrobats create this work. Amidst the catch that has not yet taken place. The landing that exists at the end point of a still-imaginary trajectory. The future that people can only create by reaching out for it.

In two gripping acts, the ensemble attempts to find balance in a world that refuses to stand still. In doing so, they begin with complex group acrobatic choreographies and later move on to impressive aerial acrobatics, always in search of the depth in the everyday wonder of bearing one another’s weight.

Directed by Yaron Lifschitz, accompanied by the multi-layered compositions of Gabriel Cazes and performed by key members of the Circa ensemble, this expanded version of *North of Now* – presented exclusively at the Chamäleon – is complemented by a second half, which celebrates its world premiere here. The result is an experience that strips the circus back to its essence: one person held entirely in the hands of another, a body defying gravity, and the breathless question of whether the catch will be made in time.
