The Art Supermarket is opening at Bikini Berlin

From Thursday 15 October 2026, the Kunstsupermarkt will be moving into Bikini Berlin, where it will transform a retail space into a sales exhibition for original art. Until 16 January 2027, visitors to Charlottenburg will find paintings, drawings and small sculptures by 90 artists from 16 countries. Every piece is unique.

Over 2,500 original works by 90 artists from 16 countries, at fixed prices starting from 69 euros

Art brings happiness – and that’s more than just a slogan

The benefits of art are now well documented: a 2019 report by the WHO Regional Office for Europe analysed over 3,000 studies and identified positive effects on well-being and mental health. In Montreal and Brussels, doctors were even able to prescribe museum visits to their patients. Nevertheless, most homes do not have a single original piece of art on the walls, often out of concern that art is too expensive or that one does not understand it. This is precisely where the Kunstsupermarkt comes in: fixed prices starting at 69 euros remove the initial hesitation, and anyone browsing needs no prior knowledge, just an eye for what they like.

“Art makes people happy – we’ve been convinced of this for almost 30 years. We see it every day in the shop: people pop in by chance, stop in front of a picture and go home with their first original. That’s exactly why we do this,” says Julia Loytved, managing director of the Kunstsupermarkt. The principle has remained the same since 1998: four fixed price tiers that everyone can understand at a glance. The range is complemented by large-format works sold at fair individual prices. The variety is deliberately wide: the selection ranges from figurative works to abstract paintings, from small-format pieces for a shelf to large canvases for the living room, office or surgery. New works are added all the time, so it’s well worth a second visit – perhaps whilst looking for a Christmas present that is guaranteed to be one of a kind.

This is what the Kunstsupermarkt means to the artist Andreas Richert, who has been taking part in it for many years:

“For me, the Art Supermarket is a garden of colours and shapes that invites visitors to stroll around, enjoy the views, glimpse insights and delve deeper if they so wish.

Art is a gateway to those aspects of our experience and our very selves that are often neglected in everyday life. It connects us with the precious, quiet, secret parts of ourselves.”
