The exhibition honors 28 years of art education work in the field of inclusive programs for children and youth, initiated by artist and art therapist Salome Haettenschweiler in cooperation with the Mitte Youth Welfare Office.
Through her project space, Salome Haettenschweiler has created a safe environment for children and young adults from diverse social and personal backgrounds, accompanying them on their journey toward greater self-confidence, courage, and inner strength through creative expression.
Where words reach their limits, participants in small, mixed-age groups discover painting as “thinking in images, on the edge of language.”*
Fairy tales, stories, and books serve as sources of inspiration just as much as the observation of images and mutual discussion of the artwork.
This combination of personal development stories, literature, art, and learning with and from one another forms the foundation of this retrospective exhibition and illustrates the depth and effectiveness of an approach that views artistic practice as soul work.
The exhibition also includes Salome Haettenschweiler’s own works and highlights the connection between studio practice and project work.
