Permanent exhibition
The exhibition at the historical site documents the causes, course and consequences of the German-German migration movement from 1949 to 1990. It focuses on both sides of the inner-German border and sheds light on the migration from the GDR to the Federal Republic as a common factor in the development of the two states.

Notaufnahmelager Marienfelde
The exhibition invites visitors to follow in the footsteps of the people who passed through the emergency reception camp after fleeing or leaving the country. Their personal experiences are juxtaposed with political developments in East and West: What were their reasons for leaving the GDR? How did they manage to cross the border despite being banned and controlled? What challenges did they face after arriving in the West? Seven themed rooms with numerous original objects, documents, photographs and media stations await you on around 450 m².

The permanent exhibition “Flight in a Divided Germany” and all seminar rooms are designed to be accessible and are easily accessible for people with mobility impairments or in wheelchairs. An elevator is available.

Mobile seating can be borrowed at the information desk. Additionally, guided tours can be conducted using group tour systems.
