Drawing on their interdisciplinary approaches, the artists experiment with new forms and formats of narrative and representation.
The title of the series, Unter dem Pflaster (Under the Pavement), playfully references an old socio-political slogan of the Situationists of the 1960s, according to which freedom from consumer-oriented existence might be found underneath the asphalt of cities.
Launched in 2020, in this open format created by artists for artists, works can be realized and exhibited independently of curatorial trends. The Pavilion at Milchhof, the second venue of the series, is located in the middle of a large courtyard. Barrier-free, flexibly usable, and, thanks to its glass facades, visibly accessible from both sides, the pavilion allows for unusual theatrical approaches.
The wireless headphones used in many projects enhance auditory perception. Live transmission of the sound allows visitors to actively take on different perspectives, immerse themselves in the action while listening to the sound in their ears, or maintain spatial distance without losing contact: this intimate atmosphere characterizes many of the pieces invited to, and revised for, the festival.
- Free Admission.
With special Thanks to FLINN WORKS for lending the Wireless Headphones.
