A scenic and musical portrait
Kurt Tucholsky, a social critic and womanizer, satirist and idealist, had a way with words like no other. He also possessed an infallible instinct for social developments. With almost clairvoyant insight, he saw Germany sliding toward catastrophe and warned of the looming dangers years before Hitler’s rise to power.
Through his writings and the music of his era, we paint a portrait of a Berliner who threw himself into political debates with the same passion as he did into the hedonism of the Weimar Republic—and whose writings, even more than 100 years after their publication, have lost none of their relevance.
