Christmas market in the Späth'schen tree nurseries

On the first three weekends of Advent, Späth’s Nurseries invite you to one of Berlin’s most beautiful Christmas markets, set in historic surroundings. A dazzling display of lights fills the unique grounds. Father Christmas and the Christmas Angel have travelled all the way from the far north. Atmospheric music fills the courtyard – performed by live bands, choirs and a Christmas brass band. With thousands of glowing stars, the new Glitzergarten in the Tree Nursery Museum adds a touch of magic.

Cool live bands and festive choir concerts

Live bands playing everything from pop and brass to soul, rock, indie and new wave invite you to dance under the starry sky. The bands are as iconic and neighbourhood-friendly as they are Christmassy and cosmopolitan. Ludi and the Lads, Berlin’s breakout stars of the year, will be there, along with BAUME, the Brazzo Brazzone with their World Brass Groove, and many more. The Musical Theatre Society brings musical theatre hits to the stage. The choir la Musica’s repertoire ranges from Renaissance classics to modern songs.

The concerts are the highlight of the main stage programme, hosted by rbb 88.8 presenter Ingo Hoppe. He’ll be keeping things lively with competitions, interviews and prize draws. The evening fire show, which rounds off every weekend, is a spectacular highlight.

100 stalls with gift ideas

At more than 100 stalls, natural products workshops, jewellery designers and craftspeople offer imaginative gift ideas: a stroll through the Christmas market becomes a journey of discovery. The Herbal Winter Garden exudes a Scandinavian Lucia atmosphere in its Swedish-style garden with decorative ideas and specialities.

The Black Barn with fairy tales and NEW: Baume sings!

In the Black Barn, you can enjoy a cheerfully spooky atmosphere and have a good laugh as the Monbijou Theatre delights children and parents alike with fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. Storyteller Ellen Luckas enchants the very youngest with the magic of fairy tales set to music. There’s also a premiere in store with ‘Baume sings!’: the tree nursery’s resident band, Hit Muffins, invites you to a sing-along afternoon – featuring Christmas carols and soulful classics.

Families can make lovely gifts from natural materials. A highlight for everyone is a ride in a horse-drawn carriage pulled by two horses through the festively decorated Baumschule grounds.

A sea of lights in the fir forest

At Germany’s oldest tree nursery, visitors can look forward to a picture-perfect Christmas market. Right at its heart lies the fir forest, home to Christmas trees of the very finest quality. Beneath the large, decorated Christmas tree, the Santa’s Horn Quartet and the Berlin Brass Trio will be performing. The handcrafted nativity scene from South Tyrol depicts scenes brimming with nostalgia.

Wonderful scents, hearty winter fare, sweet treats, mulled fruit wine from Thuringia, winemaker’s mulled wine and authentic Swedish glögg, hot chocolate, children’s punch and delicious biscuits straight from the Christmas bakery: Enjoy hours of Christmas magic with friends, as a family with children, or with colleagues in the courtyard of the city’s oldest company. A true Berlin institution!
