Up Close – Gold Rush 2025 presents the works of this year's 15 participants at the Galerie im Körnerpark. The exhibition covers a broad spectrum: from surreal paintings and documentary photographs to multimedia installations, research-based video works, and drawings. Their collective perspective is close to biographies, social conditions, and political struggles.

The group exhibition is curated by Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa (Director of Kommunale Galerien Neukölln) and Mona Hermann (artist and Gold Rush alumna).

Participating artists:
Brenda Alamilla, Yedam Ann, Mara Kirchberg, Kodac Ko, Malin Kuht, muSa michelle mattiuzzi, Sarah Reva Mohr, Mio Okido, Paulette Penje, Belén Resnikowski, Aura Roig, Victoria Sarangova, Sophia Tabatadze, Saša Tatić, and Marie Zbikowska.

THE GOLDRUSH ARTISTS' PROJECT

The Goldrush Artists' Project is a one-year postgraduate program for the professional development of female visual artists and FLINTA artists. It imparts practical knowledge essential for an independent artistic career – from catalog production, website creation, and studio talks to legal and business fundamentals. The goal is to develop individual perspectives for one's own career and to present oneself in the art field with both knowledge and confidence. The culmination is the established final exhibition, which raises the profile of the class and opens up new networks.

35 YEARS OF GOLDRUSH

Since 1989, the program has supported over 500 artists and created a unique network that fosters exchange, solidarity, and visibility. The first pioneering course began with twelve participants in West Berlin under the title "No Compromise – Strategies for Professional Self-Assertion." The impetus was the obvious gap between the visibility of female and male artists – a gap that remains unbridged even today.

Despite a high proportion of women studying, men continue to be significantly more successful in the art world. This structural inequality—documented by current studies and data from the 2025 Artists' Social Insurance Fund—is reflected in income and exhibition opportunities (gender pay gap, gender show gap). The Gold Rush program counteracts this reality with its professionalization offerings and remains an important tool in the fight for equality.

Over the past 35 years, numerous alumnae have achieved international recognition, including Bettina Allamoda, Yalda Afsa, Monica Bonvicini, Pauline Curnier Jardin, Maria Eichhorn, Friederike Feldmann, Veronika Kellndorfer, Hanne Lippard, and Henrike Naumann.
