Prenzlkasper
The stronghold of Kasper, hero of German puppet theatre
"Punch, come out!" The young audience follow the action on stage with feverish excitement as the evil knight threatens to defeat the good knight - and only the quick-witted hero with the pointed cap can help now!
The charming puppet theatre in Prenzlauer Berg is the loving home of the Prenzelkasper. For years, the passionate hand puppeteer Andreas Ulbrich has been bringing the iconic, floppy-haired hero Kasper to life in ever new adventures. With wit, courage and the indispensable help of the audience, Prenzelkasper delights young and old alike and provides unforgettable theatre moments that connect generations.
A repertoire full of classics
The Prenzlkasper's programme offers more than just the traditional Punch and Judy shows. In addition to the well-known adventures, the ensemble also presents lovingly staged fairytale classics. Whether it's the skilful "Brave Little Tailor", the timeless story of "Little Red Riding Hood" or the race of "Rabbit and Hedgehog " - each play is an experience in itself, embedded in imaginative backdrops and lively puppets.
Unless otherwise stated, the performances are specially designed for children aged 3 and over, although older siblings and adults will always enjoy the traditional craftsmanship.
A perfect family day out
The puppet theatre is located in the heart of Berlin's vibrant family district, Prenzlauer Berg. Its central location makes a visit to the theatre the ideal component of a relaxed day out. After the performance, you can explore the surrounding area: countless playgrounds invite you to let off steam and in the many family-friendly cafés you can reflect on the exciting morning over a piece of cake.
Thanks to the proximity to various tram lines (M2, M4, M10, M12), getting here is extremely convenient and uncomplicated. A visit to Prenzelkasper is therefore not just a theatre experience, but a complete cultural outing for the whole family.
