From 5 to 13 September 2026, the 19th Bio-Balkon Online Congress “Green. Cool. Edible!” will take place at https://bio-balkon.de/kongresse/kongress-19/: 9 days, 20 experts and practitioners, one shared theme – how we can use balconies, terraces and window sills to create more climate-resilient self-sufficiency, biodiversity and a cooler urban climate.
The focus is on very specific questions:
Which plants really provide shade and reduce the heat in a small space? There are fascinating talks on trailing plants, climbing plants and fruit trees.
How can a balcony become a habitat for insects and beneficial organisms? Brilliant balcony enthusiasts will show us their balconies and how they’ve gone about it. The ‘Balconies of Biodiversity’ rooftop project will be introduced and demonstrate how we can easily use AI to identify our observations. A fantastic opportunity!
What can be harvested from pots even in winter? There are articles on winter vegetables and permaveggies/perennial vegetables.
How do I get started if I have no experience yet?
