The Liberty Styles Trio is led by New York tap dancer Liberty Styles, who performs regularly at jazz clubs and festivals in the U.S., the U.K., and Europe. She can be heard at venues such as Smalls Jazz Club, ShapeShifter Lab, and Silvana in New York, and is a regular performer at London clubs including Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex, where she consistently incorporates tap dance into the repertoire of a classic jazz trio. For this tour, Liberty and English double bassist Josh Vadiveloo are coming to Germany together—Josh is a sought-after musician on the London/British scene and has worked and recorded with Xhosa Cole, Soweto Kinch, Rachael Cohen, Jean Toussaint, Pat Thomas, and Mark Sanders, among others. Rounding out the trio is the German-English saxophonist Edi May, a prize winner of the Kurt Maas Competition and the Gasteig Competition, who performs in both Germany and the UK. The trio plays jazz standards and selected originals in a relaxed, swinging setting—with an international lineup, light on its feet, humorous, and rooted in tradition while incorporating new influences.
