A Conversation with Susanne Heim and Klaus Lederer

In her new book, *Die Abschottung der Welt*, Susanne Heim traces how, between 1933 and 1945, more and more people were exposed to a growing threat, while their chances of escape grew ever smaller.

Jews were particularly hard hit. No state stood up for them; anti-Semitic sentiment was widespread. Deprived of their rights and possessions, they were regarded as a burden and, on top of that, as suspects. The possibility of escape ultimately became a matter of survival when the Germans put their program of exterminatory anti-Semitism into action in 1941.

Susanne Heim will present her book in conversation with Klaus Lederer, and there will be an opportunity for discussion.
