Beethoven – ein Leben in Musik und Wort
Uwe Hirth-Schmidt and Beethoven expert Prof. On Mitani will jointly trace the composer’s journey from a learned musician to a visionary titan of music history.
The program focuses on selected masterpieces for cello and piano as well as for solo piano: the Sonata, Op. 5, No. 2 in G minor; the piano sonatas “Pathétique,” Op. 13, and “Moonlight,” Op. 27, No. 2; and the Cello Sonata, Op. 69, in A major.
The program is complemented by accompanying texts in German and Japanese that vividly illuminate Beethoven’s life and artistic development and place intercultural dialogue at the center.
The combination of world-class chamber music, in-depth musicological context, and bilingual narration makes the evening a special experience for both Beethoven enthusiasts and lovers of classical music alike.
