With the end of flight operations, a unique array of flora and fauna has developed at Tempelhofer Feld.

Amid the former runways, in the heart of the city, protected animal species roam freely, and numerous plant species thrive on the vast meadows.
In addition to the many gardeners who work here, a flock of sheep is also used to help maintain the landscape. About 100 Skudde sheep—a breed threatened with extinction—have found a new home on the grounds. Our head shepherd, Frank Wasem, explains the connection between nature conservation and sustainable agriculture and answers your questions about sheep grazing.

Meeting point: At the entrance gate to the grazing area across from the mini-ramp at the Vogelfreiheit Skatepark on the southern taxiway (https://maps.app.goo.gl/aPgceii6UDdygKxg6)
Important Notes: Please allow enough time for the trip and arrive on time. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing (rain or sun protection), sturdy shoes, and bring plenty of drinks. Tempelhofer Feld is very exposed to wind and sun.
