When a child has to go through something unbearable, they’ll do anything just to get through it somehow. They shut themselves off from the world. They barely manage to survive.

The path to survival is marked by deep pain and utter confusion. Survivors often cannot find the words. How can you put into words something you don’t even understand yourself? How can you remember something that no child should ever have to endure?
Even before there were any conscious memories of the horrors of the past, stories about the pain and confusion were told through this art.
This exhibition is a step toward piecing together the puzzle, developing an understanding of traumatic episodes, and feeling neither shame nor guilt for what happened.
It is a step toward self-empowerment.
This is for all survivors—the strongest people I have ever met.

Friday, 6:30 p.m.: Artist Talk: Luisa Hammer with Madvhi Ramani (author and podcast host)
Saturday, 4:00 p.m.: Exhibition tour with the artist
Sunday, 4:00–7:00 p.m.: A non-binary (afab) person who works in the field of sexualized violence will be present and available for conversations as needed.
About the Artist
Dr. Luisa Hammer is an economist by profession. She enjoys delving intellectually into the depths of society. Her true passion, however, lies in art.
Her creativity is expressed primarily through painting, occasionally through clay sculptures, and also through singing.
Some time ago, disturbing memories resurfaced. Confronting them, processing them, staying with them. Speaking openly about them, including in this podcast episode with Ms Informed.

Accessibility
The entrance to the exhibition space is at ground level and accessible via a 15-cm-high step. Unfortunately, the restroom is not wheelchair-accessible due to a partition between the toilet and the sink.
