Two-day workshop | August 8 and 9, 2026 | 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Mary’s blue cloak, the kings’ red cloaks—in Old Master painting, color traditions centered on red and blue play a major role.

Together with art historian Henrik Engel and artist Birgit Bellmann, you’ll explore how these traditions evolved from the use of precious pigments and how they continue to influence art today.

You’ll capture your impressions in drawings made from the originals. In the studio, you’ll then grind various red and blue pigments with binders and experiment with them in sketch form.

The workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced participants. All materials are provided.

Participation fee for both days, including admission: 90 euros

Limited number of participants. Online registration required.
