Summer Concert by the Berlin Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

The Berlin Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (PJOB) will perform its annual summer concert on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Jesus-Christus-Kirche in Berlin-Dahlem, under the baton of conductor Akim Camara.

“Upheaval and Reconciliation”—under this title, the concert brings together three works that explore change, dialogue, and a new order. Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 1 is followed by Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto, in which the violin and cello engage in a multifaceted musical dialogue—sometimes with each other, sometimes against each other. Jean Sibelius’ Second Symphony concludes the evening with music that, through inner movement, finds clarity and confidence.

Concert Venue

The Jesus-Christus-Kirche in Berlin-Dahlem, often referred to as “Karajan’s Cathedral,” is considered one of Berlin’s most historic and acoustically fascinating concert venues. Herbert von Karajan conducted numerous recordings and concerts here—a venue where international ensembles and soloists continue to perform to this day.

The Orchestra

The Berlin Philharmonic Youth Orchestra was founded in 2021 and is organized as a nonprofit association. It offers students and young professional musicians from all over Germany the opportunity to gain valuable orchestral experience at a high artistic level and to network across regions. In addition to performing major symphonic works, the orchestra distinguishes itself through projects that explore new concert formats and collaborations.

Tickets are available for €25 (standard) and €15 (reduced for those under 30 or people with severe disabilities). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales: HERE
