Berlin's Everyday Poet

Dota Kehr is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and one of the most distinctive voices in German-language music. She first gained recognition as “Die Kleingeldprinzessin.”

Today, Dota is known for her intelligent, poetic, and at the same time political songs that defy easy categorization. Her music spans singer-songwriter pop, folk, jazz, and bossa nova; her lyrics explore the personal, the political, and the contradictions of the present.

With her musical adaptations of the poems by Mascha Kaléko (1907–1975), she reached a wide audience and demonstrated once again how contemporary literature can sound and how political poetry is.

Kevin Kühnert is one of the most incisive political voices of his generation: outspoken, analytical, and a seasoned debater.

In MISSVERSTEHEN SIE MICH RICHTIG, Dota is a guest on Kevin Kühnert’s show. A conversation about music, language, attitudes, life in Berlin, and the issues that move her.
