How will robotics change the future of medicine?
Robotic assistance systems and artificial intelligence are often discussed as potential solutions. But what problems are they actually meant to solve? Which tasks can machines take on—and which should remain the domain of humans?
This workshop combines questions about the future of society with current research approaches in medical robotics. Through interactive exercises, participants will experience the challenges of modern interventional medicine and discuss the opportunities, limitations, and ethical issues surrounding robotic assistance systems.
Using concrete research examples from Fraunhofer IMTE, the workshop demonstrates how societal challenges give rise to scientific questions and how these, in turn, lead to the development of innovative technologies.
What is an Open Lab Evening?
Every Thursday, things get creative in the lab. You’ll learn methods like Design Thinking and Future Storytelling, try out 3D printers and laser cutters, get a behind-the-scenes look at lab projects, and listen to exciting keynote talks. There’s something new every week.
Partnership
The Fraunhofer Society for the Advancement of Applied Research e.V. is a partner of Futurium.
Workshop Leaders
The workshop is led by Prof. Dr. Dennis Kundrat, Scientific Incubator for Robotic Intervention, Fraunhofer-IMTE, and Lisa Ey-Rodyk, Administrative Director at Fraunhofer-IMTE.
