The German 100-kilometer Championships are coming to Berlin in 2026: On September 12, Germany’s top female and male ultra-runners will gather in Wartenberg, a district of Berlin-Lichtenberg, to compete for the titles of German Champion. The race will take place on a fast 5-kilometer loop in the Wartenberger Feldmark Landscape Park.

The event is organized by the German Ultramarathon Association (DUV) in cooperation with the German Athletics Association (DLV), with SC Tegeler Forst—part of LG NORD Berlin—and its UltraTeam serving as the local host.

Both the course and the overall conditions promise top performances, thrilling moments during the race, and a warm, welcoming ultra-running atmosphere in terms of organization and support.

The German Championships over the 100-km distance are considered one of the most important competitions in German ultrarunning: here, experience, mental strength, and extraordinary endurance come together. The championship thus stands not only for athletic achievements but also for the special fascination of ultramarathon running—pushing one’s own limits and transcending them.

That is precisely why it was a true labor of love for the LG NORD Berlin UltraTeam to bring the German Championships to Berlin after the original Leipzig organizer had to relinquish the event at relatively short notice at the end of 2025. It was no easy task to create the organizational framework needed to get these championships off the ground within such a short time.

All the more reason for the organizers to hope for strong participation from the entire ultra-running community—because that’s exactly what gives this championship its special atmosphere.

The race will take place on a 5-km loop that starts and finishes at Wartenberg Stadium. From there, the course winds through the landscape park on paved surfaces and long straightaways. While the course has a rural character with cattle pastures and plenty of greenery, the sweeping view of the city outskirts

with its buildings and the Berlin TV Tower.

As part of the additional program, both a 5-km and a 10-km road race will be held on the officially certified course, which also promises fast times.

For those who find the 100 kilometers “a bit” too long, there’s the option of teaming up with three like-minded runners—men or women—for an exciting 4x25-km relay. There’s certainly plenty of time to prepare well!
