What is an observatory, and how does a telescope work? The participating children explore these questions and take a look at one of the world’s longest telescopes together.

Standing next to the large meteorite, they marvel at what flies around in space and sometimes falls to Earth. Finally, the group explores the planetarium and discovers the beauty of the night sky.

The children are shown how some telescopes and simple constellations work, and of course they get to ask all the questions they brought with them to the “Star House.”

The Archenhold Observatory is one of the most special places in astronomy: it is the oldest and largest public observatory in Germany and houses the world’s longest movable refracting telescope.
