To mark the new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s *The Abduction from the Seraglio*, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, in collaboration with rbb Radio3, will host the renowned discussion series “Das Quartett der Kritiker” for the first time in the Apollosaal on June 15, 2026.

The evening will focus on recordings of Mozart’s famous Singspiel—the various interpretations by conductors and singers, as well as the work itself, will be discussed live before an audience.
Since 2010, the jurors of the German Record Critics’ Award have been discussing significant works of music history in public with varying lineups and comparing historical and contemporary recordings.
The event has been held in more than 35 cities to date and is now taking place for the first time at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
Music and theater critic Kai Luehrs-Kaiser will moderate the event. Together with music journalist Eleonore Büning, rbb music editor and artistic director of the Ultraschall Berlin festival Andreas Göbel, and Staatsoper director Elisabeth Sobotka, he will discuss Mozart’s opera, the musical complexity and characteristics of the Singspiel, as well as influential interpretations on recordings.
- rbb Radio 3 will record the event and broadcast the critics’ panel on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, following the live broadcast of The Abduction from the Seraglio.
