Book reading with Kathrin Schülein
Kathrin Schülein reads “In Search of… or How I Opened Theater Ost”
Kathrin Schülein is a guest at the Villa RADA Salon.
In her book “Auf der Suche oder Wie ich das Theater Ost eröffnete,” she recounts a life as a dancer closely tied to the stage and the moment when that stage suddenly vanished after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The search for a new purpose in life leads to a constant sense of not quite arriving. And because a life without theater is no life at all for her, she finally opens her own. With the bold confidence of the uninitiated, she sets out to reclaim her own life.

Maximilian Nowka
“Have You Ever Been in Love with Me?”
Maximilian Nowka is a guest at the Villa RADA Salon with his program “Have You Ever Been in Love with Me?”
An evening that pays tribute to an artist who was once one of the great stars of the Weimar Republic. Max Hansen—singer, cabaret artist, actor. His songs are characterized by wit, elegance, and a keen sense of nuance.
But behind the glamour lies a turbulent history. Emigration, upheavals, a new beginning far from his former stages. Maximilian Nowka approaches this artist with respect and palpable intimacy. With piano accompaniment, an evening emerges that balances lightness and depth, carried by songs such as “Einmal möcht ich sie küssen, gnädige Frau,” “Meine liebe Lola,” and “Ach Luise.”

Book reading with Carla Kalkbrenner
Carla Kalkbrenner reads “Mordshitze”
Carla Kalkbrenner is a guest at the Villa RADA salon. With “Die Sonne über Berlin: Mordshitze,” she reads from the first volume of her crime series. The story begins in a sweltering summer in Berlin: A celebrity is found dead in a hotel suite, and Inspector Hardy Dahlberg takes over the investigation. Dahlberg works his way through a case that raises many questions from the very beginning. As the heat hangs over the city, his search for clues leads him through diverse worlds and human motives.
Carla Kalkbrenner narrates in a laconic tone, with dry wit and a keen eye for people and their stories. An evening of suspense, language, and Berlin atmosphere.
