Panel discussion
The next event is dedicated to a topic that is widely discussed, though rarely from the perspective of reintegration and inclusion. The focus is on the question of how a path back to life after extremism is even possible. What happens when people leave extremist circles and try to rejoin society? What hurdles do they face, and what role can inclusion play in this process?
On May 22 at 7:30 p.m., an open-stage discussion will take place at Marie.Bistro in the Bundestag. The discussion will center on a conversation with Eren Recberlik, a former member of an extremist group with personal experience dealing with radicalization and its consequences, who now works as a prevention consultant and security expert. This perspective will be complemented by analytical insights from a moderator and expert on extremism and radicalization processes.
The discussion will address personal ruptures, social rejection, and the often underestimated paths back to life—navigating the tension between individual responsibility and structural barriers. After all, the question of whether people can find a place in society again after extremist experiences is also part of the discussion on inclusion. The event is not intended as a lecture, but as an honest conversation about change, reintegration, and the question of how inclusion can be achieved even where it is uncomfortable.
