The street names in the Carl Legien housing estate, designed by architects Bruno Taut and Franz Hillinger (1928–1930), reflect Berlin’s turbulent history in the 20th century.

The tour sheds light on the contentious renaming processes during the Weimar Republic, after 1933, 1945, and in the years following German reunification.

This is not an architectural tour—the focus is on the political and social significance of the street names.
