Envisioning the Future, Shaping the Present: Discovering New Perspectives on Education

How can we best prepare young people for an uncertain future? What skills do they need to be able to take action and shape their own futures? This Open Lab evening invites you to explore possible futures for education together—and to draw inspiration from these explorations today for the school development of tomorrow.

With the new “Future Box for Education,” you’ll embark on a mental journey through various future scenarios. Using methods from futures research and design, you’ll develop diverse perspectives on how societal changes might impact teaching and learning.

Engaging with possible futures opens up new spaces for thought and action: it helps to question existing assumptions, break through rigid patterns, and view current challenges from new perspectives. On this basis, you will jointly derive concrete ideas and strategic approaches for school development.

The Future Box Education is designed and implemented by the Education Innovation Lab in Berlin in cooperation with educators from Berlin.

What is an Open Lab Evening?

Every Thursday, things get creative at the Lab. You’ll learn methods like Design Thinking or Future Storytelling, try out 3D printers, laser cutters, and robots, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the Lab’s projects. There’s something new every week.
