Personal and with Robert's unique charm and humor

He is supported by the versatile musician Guido Raschke. Together, they deliver powerful, expressive songs in meticulous arrangements, encompassing a wide range of styles and moods. The music moves dynamically between chanson and rock, jazz ballads and swing tunes. Add to that a touch of musical cabaret and a healthy dose of British humor.

Brief Biography of Robert Metcalf

An old guitar, which his flatmate kept more as a decorative object than anything else, was the reason Robert Metcalf didn't become a lawyer. Born in Birmingham, England, he moved to Paris in the early 1970s to study law and fell in love with that very guitar, taught himself some chords, and soon began writing his own songs. He hadn't planned it that way. Nor was his becoming a Berliner planned when he flew to Berlin in 1973 for a five-month internship and ended up staying. During the day, he initially worked at a branch office of the European Community (now the EU) and later in addiction counseling, but at night he performed his own songs in small West Berlin music venues and in mid-1984 even won an award at the Nuremberg Bardentreffen with his first German-language songs. When a music promoter asked him to write some children's songs, he never imagined he would one day make a living from it, but in fact, he was able to quit his job as a social worker as early as 1990.

Since then, Metcalf has released numerous CDs in German and also in his native English and is a regular on radio and television, particularly on the children's program "Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten" (The Show with the Elephant).
