Eschenbräu is hosting a literary whiskey tasting, as many writers have drawn inspiration from whiskey.

For many literary characters, it is a faithful companion. Whisky meets literature, bottle meets person, water meets fire, transience meets timelessness.

Yet whisky is not merely a drink:

It is a starting point, a state of being, an attitude, a symbol, and a catalyst—a means of relaxation as well as of numbing, even a sign of loss of control. But not all whiskey is created equal.

What did the authors and their protagonists really drink? We’ll explore and sample it—from Charles Bukowski, William Faulkner, Graham Greene, and James Joyce to Haruki Murakami, Jo Nesbø, Frank Schätzing, and many others.

With more than a dozen books, some background knowledge, plenty of quotes, and six whiskies from four countries, we have plenty of material for an evening.

Jürgen Diessl, who has been working in the publishing industry for 30 years, will explore the connection between whiskey, authors, and their works, while whiskey expert Tanja Bempreiksz will enrich the evening with vivid insights into the world of distilleries.
