Musical reading with Thomas Siener

Liselotte von der Pfalz, the daughter of a 17th-century Palatinate elector, was married against her will to the Sun King’s brother, whom she had never met before. Thus, she becomes a witness to life at the famous court of Versailles. Her sense of humor, her almost manic letter-writing, and the culinary delights help Liselotte survive in Versailles.

In an entertaining program, Thomas Siener combines Liselotte’s letters—some of which are hilarious, while others are tinged with melancholy—with the wonderful music of the Versailles court, which he arranged himself for the harp.
