A documentary theatre performance

WAR DIARIES is a passionate plea for humanity and an attempt to process personal trauma amid collective disaster—an experience that captivates not only with its oppressive honesty, but also with the undivided humanity that is revealed. The performers create a haunting testimony to the devastating impact of war on the private universe.

Uri's call-up as a reservist on October 7, 2023, and his deployment to Gaza, where he struggles with difficult decisions as a commander of 80 soldiers, brutally separates the family and thrusts Nadia into the role of a single mother under rocket fire in Tel Aviv, whose daily life is marked by fear for her partner's life.

From the beginning of the war, Uri and Nadia both write daily diaries creating a dense testimony to everyday life during the war—the soldier at the front, the woman at home with their newborn child. They write to document, to remember, and to process. They film and make audio recordings in Gaza and Tel Aviv.

They try to shed light on this deadly conflict by sharing their most personal accounts of this time. These diaries are a document of a time when three people—a child, a mother, a soldier—were more closely connected than ever before, even though they had never been so far apart.

In German, English and Hebrew with German and English surtitles.
