Photographing desired

The KULTURSTIFTUNG SCHLOSS BRITZ is treading unusual paths with its new exhibition: 18 interactive exhibits from 500 years of art history will be shown under the motto "Art to Participate". The famous works literally fall outside the scope. Anyone who has always dreamed of being immortalized by Botticelli, Caravaggio, Degas or other famous artists can now fulfill this dream. Visitors can stage themselves so that they can become part of the work of art and capture it photographically for all eternity.

Why this exhibition? Access to art in museums is limited nowadays. Don't get too close to the works, please keep your distance. The visitors should freeze in awe of the works of art and listen to the teachings about meanings that often remain foreign to them. Paradoxically, art seems to be both elitist and banal, but should be moving, stimulating and also challenging, and a visit to the museum should become an emotional experience. The public must once again have a share in the art and its masterpieces.

At Britz Castle, visitors embark on a journey through 500 years of art history. From Botticelli and Michelangelo to Manet and Degas to Keith Haring, all of them works of world fame. The exhibition presents reproductions of 19 masterpieces, which not only stand for the spirit of the times, but are also known from film, television and the new media. They have become icons of our time, which apparently everyone knows or must have seen once.

Following the motto "#pARTicipate - make yourself a work of art", a completely new museum experience opens up. The barrier between art and the public is broken down. Not only consideration is required, but interaction is expressly permitted. The imagination and creativity of the individuals alone set the limits for a visit to the museum. Every new idea can be captured immediately with the camera, making the work of art a very personal moment and part of your own story. New pictures - new works of art - are created, which can be shared with others under "#machdichkunst".

With this exhibition, Schloss Britz is also addressing a younger audience that is to be introduced to art. With this approach to art, which also includes the new forms of communication and media, the exhibition becomes a lively place where art can be experimented with. But the tour through the top works of art history also has its appeal for an older audience. You are cordially invited to make yourself a work of art.
The exhibition is presented in cooperation with the Institut für Kulturaustausch in Tübingen.
