On the occasion of the exhibition City (un)limited - the dream of owning your own house in Schloss Biesdorf, Kunstblock & beyond* and Christoph Trautvetter** take us around Elsterwerdaer Platz - one of the most popular corners on the outskirts of the city, also among real estate companies.

Biesdorf is considered the largest contiguous settlement of single houses in Germany. Against the background of a rapidly growing city, the effects of climate change, also with regard to the role of suburban settlements, and growing socio-economic injustice, the question of land ownership in relation to the tension between the needs of the individual and those of the community is becoming increasingly urgent.

During the walk with Christoph Trautvetter a critical look at the ongoing urban densification around Schloss Biesdorf will be taken, differences and parallels between the business models of private, profit-oriented real estate developers or real estate groups and the state-owned housing associations will be made visible.

Event in cooperation with Schloss Biesdorf.

Kunstblock & beyond is an association of art and culture producers, who join the "Mietenwahnsinn Alliance" in solidarity, get involved in the fight against displacement and sell-out of the city and take a public stand. Kunstblock & beyond pushes the debate on this issue and makes the resistance against displacement visible through artistic actions and public relations work. Kunstblock & beyond aims to uncover its own entanglement in neoliberal structures in order to be more capable of action, because art itself is often part of the city's revaluation.

Christoph Trautvetter is a public policy expert and supporter of the Tax Justice Network. He works to mobilise the majority of honest taxpayers and tenants against the minority of tax avoiders, aggressive real estate investors and profiteers of illegitimate financial flows. Among other things, he has worked as a special forensic auditor for KPMG AG, in the budget committee of the European Parliament and as a fellow at Teach First Germany. Christoph Trautvetter holds a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance and a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy & Economics) from the University of Bayreuth.
