Under the motto “Why the Future Needs Us,” panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, and project formats will address concrete questions about the future—ranging from social cohesion and education to social responsibility.
The events take place across Berlin and highlight the diversity of civil society engagement in the city, as well as the solutions foundations offer for our future.
A thematic festival for civic engagement and ideas for the future
Berlin Foundation Week sees itself as a thematic festival of civil society and a platform for civic engagement in the city.
With 60 to 100 decentralized events throughout Berlin, a diverse program takes shape: panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, project presentations, open houses, and innovative dialogue formats.
Foundation Week is more than just a series of events. It is a place for networking, exchange, and cooperation.
Kickoff at the Rotes Rathaus:
Foundation Week will open on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 3 p.m. in the ballroom of the Rotes Rathaus. This year, Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, long-time President of the German Bundestag, will deliver the Berlin Foundation Address.
With Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, Berlin Foundation Week gains a speaker who precisely analyzes social developments and provides guidance. Around 300 to 350 guests from the worlds of politics, civil society, and foundations are expected to attend the opening event.
