Beyond the Berlin Wall
This award-winning documentary gives a voice to three former political prisoners who were incarcerated in the Stasi's central remand prison in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen in the 1970s and 1980s.
Edda Schönherz, Hans-Joachim ‘Akki’ Lietsche and Matthias Leupold talk about their arrest, everyday life in prison and the interrogations – and how they resisted the dictatorship in different ways. Their memories encourage reflection not only on the past, but also on the present.
The event is organised by the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the protagonists.
