Jules Verne | Distant worlds
The
contemporary artist Jens Hanke arranges his paintings, drawings and objects
around themes that characterise the "scientific novel" of the late
19th century. The world of ideas and the history of mentality of the
Gründerzeit is revealed through a modern art exhibition. Hanke's
works are not to be understood as illustrations. They are not orientated
towards concrete models. Rather, they are an echo of this literary genre and
cinematic sources.
