11th China Cup Berlin

The over 3,000 year old game of Go (chin. Weiqi) originated in China and was known there in ancient times as the "Yi game". It is a predecessor of chess and, together with guqin (Chinese zither), calligraphy and Chinese painting, belongs to the "four arts of the wise" in ancient China. Go thus represents a treasure of traditional Chinese culture. Since the 20th century, the game of Go has also spread from East Asia to the whole world.

The China Cup Berlin has been a cultural brand for many years, jointly established by the Go Association Berlin e. V. and the Chinese Cultural Center Berlin (CKB). The success of the competition has enabled many people in Germany as well as other parts of Europe to learn, understand and enjoy the ancient board game of Go. For the last three years, the tournament was suspended due to the Corona pandemic. This year, the relaunch of this traditional Berlin tournament will be celebrated and the 11th China Cup Berlin will be held on May 6 and 7 together with the Go-Verband Berlin e. V..

All lovers of Go are invited to participate in the competition or to watch the games, exchange ideas and make friends with the game of Go.

In the framework of the competition there will also be the possibility of an introduction to the game of Go.
