Musik & Talk mit Charly Hübner

Anyone who wants to be creative has to start somewhere. This is especially true for artistic creation. How a composition or a novel comes into being is highly individual and personal.

While for some, the beginning means filling a blank page, for others it consists more of organizing and filtering the abundance that surrounds us daily. Joseph Haydn immortalized the biblical "beginning of all beginnings" with his Creation Oratorio. Even before the first divine act of creation, he lets instrumental music resound, which in a fascinating way evokes a beginning before the beginning—the primordial state between chaos and emptiness.

In the midst of the "On Beginnings" festival, which concludes with three performances of Haydn's "The Creation" with the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Konzerthaus Orchestra under the direction of Joana Mallwitz, Charly Hübner and his guests explore the significance of beginnings in artistic creation.

He will be speaking with composer Cymin Samawatie, who has written a new work for a trans-traditional orchestra specifically for the festival and has fresh insights into her musical beginnings.

Berlin-based author Nele Pollatschek, in turn, explores the topic from a literary perspective. Her latest novel, "Kleine Probleme" (Small Problems), deals with a to-do list and the art of not starting, the art of procrastination. In the new Konzerthaus Salon, "Herz über Kopf" (Head Over Heels), classical music will be discussed from a fan's point of view.

The host for the inaugural season is actor Charly Hübner. On four evenings each in the Werner Otto Hall, there will be space for questions big and small about classical music and its place in our lives.

With a late-night drink in hand, join Mahler enthusiast and Schubert interpreter Charly Hübner and his guests as they wax lyrical and reflect on selected pieces from the Konzerthaus program.
