In order to understand the magic of the great Paul Bocuse, we want to take a different look at the "master of the grand gesture" (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Not on the basis of his great recipes, because even back then there were many great chefs in France.

But none was like him. When Bocuse visited the Tantris in Munich, he naturally went into the kitchen, shook hands with the dishwasher first, and only then with the stunned cooks. He was the first chef to have his name embroidered on his chef's jacket and painted on the restaurant facade.

He is the reason why chefs are still usually photographed with their arms crossed. Because that's how he always had himself photographed. Paul Bocuse is considered the inventor of the "Gockellauf", the round that chefs walk through the restaurant at the end of the evening. Through his humor, wit and charisma, Bocuse replaced the maître as the star of the restaurant. He is the reason for the self-confidence of the industry. And this body of work shines even brighter than his recipes.

For a tribute to Bocuse, we can think of no better than top chef Patrik Jaros. The Czech-born chef was at the side of Eckart Witzigmann at Aubergine in Munich for a long time. In 1995 he won the 3rd place at the Bocuse d'Or, until today he is a member of the Bocuse d'Or Academy in France and president of the Bocuse d'Or Selection Germany". His cookbook "Truffles - the Diamonds of the Kitchen" received the Gourmand World Cookbook Award 2004.

On this evening, Patrik Jaros will prepare a seven-course "in-memoriam" menu together with the head chef of Wilhelm Alexander, Fabian Fiedler, and his grandiose team, flanked by sparkling wines from Bouvet Ladubay and VDP.Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl (Pfalz).

The venue for this storied menu is at least as historic. The Wilhelm Alexander is a grand and ambitious gastronomy project in the Humboldt Forum. Wilhelm stands for the German-French fine dining restaurant by name, while Alexander is the namesake for the deli.
