11th Royal Wine Festival

Friedrich himself would certainly have been delighted that around 250 years later wine was being celebrated in his garden of all places. For more than ten years, winegrowers from almost all 13 German wine-growing regions, from Brandenburg and even from France have been following the call of wine to Potsdam and delighting wine connoisseurs and friends with their fine wines.

It is part of the philosophy of this festival to present the diversity of German wine to the visitors through a selected representative of each wine-growing region. The public thanks it with increasing numbers of visitors - and the winegrowers, in turn, appreciate the technical discussions in a harmonious, almost family and yet majestic atmosphere.

At the same time, the festival is considered the official start of sales of the new vintage wine from the Royal Vineyard. The first bottles of the limited edition can be tasted and purchased here for the first time. Afterwards you can buy the wine in the museum shops in the old palace kitchen of Sanssouci Palace, in Potsdam specialist shops and in our online farm shop.

German wine will be celebrated here for three days again this year and the wine festival will end on Sunday with a morning pint.

However, the Royal Wine Festival also serves a charitable and cultural purpose. The proceeds from this festival benefit the reconstruction and recultivation of the Royal Vineyard below the Klausberg-Belvedere. Mosaic-Berlin gGmbH and the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation have set themselves the goal of making Frederick the Great's former kitchen garden area a tangible experience for visitors again in the years to come.

The organizers are therefore already looking forward to welcoming you to the 11th Royal Wine Festival from July 7th to 9th, 2023.
